Many car magazines last year featured the beautiful Lamborghini all liveried up complete with blues and two's for Italy's finest law enforcers. So how disappointed must the Sydney's version of "The Bill" been when their latest Italian made police vehicle was recently delivered? This is the latest addition to the Leichhardt district of Sydney police motor pool, a Fiat 500 JTD turbo diesel. Somewhat dinkier than the normal V8 Ford falcon but definitely turning heads "like no other car we have used", according to Superintendent Wayne Cox. This corgi sized vehicle is mainly being put to use as a community car and its fab looks are apparently helping to build rapport with younger drivers, enabling officers to get over important road safety messages. In the current economic crisis it is perhaps a little more "PC". |
