 When a vehicle is stationary in traffic, with the engine on, all it does is pump out Co2 and burn fuel. At the busy times of day, bizarrely called "rush hours" that's what happens. Each of us deals with this frustration in our own ways, but for none of us is this an enjoyable experience. The solution is of course obvious. Travel outside of these peak times. Now that's easy to say but your employer might have something to say about you turning up an hour later than you're supposed to. However, increasingly companies are looking at flexible working arrangements and the use of technology to assist in changing work patterns. It can do no harm to ask the question and explore the possibilities. that is unless you like being parked on tarmac ,surrounded by other vehicles, busy going nowhere. |

There are plenty of people in the UK today who on a daily basis drive to their local gym where they then pedal and run furiously for hours without getting anywhere, for fun. Whilst that may not appeal to everyone for most of us walking and cycling is an easy thing to do. It can be fun, its certainly healthy, so why not think about those short local trips and perhaps make them under your own steam? |

 What a horrid thought, letting other people into the peace and tranquility of your personal cocoon..your car. Other people might not like your taste in music, the way you drive or worse they may wish to speak to you. For some journeys though couldn't you just consider using those other seats. The facts are painfully obvious, the more people in one car the fewer cars on the road. This means less traffic, making journeys quicker so less fuel used all round and fewer emissions. It could even save you money as you could share the cost amongst your fellow passengers.The question is how and who to share with?

 Could you manage with a smaller car most days? With modern small cars being so capacious these days surely downsizing is an option? Many small cars are a hoot to drive so can't you forsake some everyday performance without giving up the joy of driving?..and think, on those days when you need something bigger or want something faster or wish for something flasher..Hire it!
