Lose weight now - Ask me how
Manufacturers are doing their bit by reducing the weight in our cars. Some of us might not like it but the switch to space savers and puncture repair kits dramatically reduces the weight by removing the need for a full size spare tyre. Modern materials also reduce weight helping to improve official fuel consumption figures. Based on this information we buy these light weight cars and then promptly fill them up with junk. Save fuel lose weight. It’s that simple. Have a look in your boot and clear out what isn’t needed. Also take off roof boxes, roof bars and cycle carriers (more on them later). But how else can you reduce weight?
Now a bit more controversially give some thought to your fuel load. Watch Formula One racing and you’ll see the teams carefully calculating their fuel strategies to the last drop. Remember 50 litres of diesel is about 42.5kg. Now the point of losing weight is to reduce fuel consumption which is good for the environment and your pocket. However, light filling your tank and then driving extra miles to fill up more often, might defeat the object. Also running your car extremely low of fuel can be harmful to your engine as deposits are sucked up which could cost lots in rejected warranty claims and expensive repairs. Finally the supermarkets 5p off campaigns make more sense if you fill up. Obviously there is no point in taking actions that make you worse off or use more fuel. What we are suggesting though is give it some thought. If you pass a petrol station every day that sells their fuel at a decent price it just might be worth shedding a few pounds.
